Today I share with you my vlog about cold lunches vs hot lunches for school. Do you have your kids get school lunches or cold lunch? Is there a debate over it, meaning do your kids prefer hot lunch but you make them take cold lunch? Curious your thoughts on it after watching my video …

  2. Cold lunch is absolutely better for the kids because you can control what they are eating a whole lot better. Plus the hot lunches at school are generally processed with loads of preservatives that they simply do not need.

I simply don’t have time for cold lunches every day, so I let my daughter tell me when she doesn’t like the hot lunch planned. HOWEVER, we have had lots of discussions about meal portions (no seconds!), drinking skim milk or water instead of chocolate or strawberry milk (extra calories that she doesn’t need!), and not making a PB&J sandwich after she finishes her main lunch (yes, they really have this horrifying option!).

I fully believe our school is partially to blame for overweight children because of poor lunch menus high in calories and low in nutrition. Yet it is up to us to either educate our children on nutrition or send them to school with cold lunches that we can control.
