So the other day my daughter reminded me that back to school shopping is in order. I said “we don’t do back to school shopping” and she all of a sudden had a confused look on her face. I said “well what type of back to school shopping are you talking about … clothes?” and my daughter pipes up and says “well yeah”. So my response is simple “we don’t have the money to go buy you new clothes and you have so many that fit you already”. Apparently that answer wasn’t good enough because she was still staring at me all confused … what is so confusing about the answer “we don’t have the money”?!
I finally laughed and said “yes Ki we will probably have to go soon and I am sure we will have some money for school clothes”. Do you know what my daughter said in reply to that? Oh she says “there’s that positive mom I know!”. I died, because it’s so funny, my other blog Happily Blended is where you can get a bit more inside of my head and truly see that overall I am a very positive person and so my daughter is starting to learn how to think positive in every situation simply by following her Mama.
I am happy that she could see my positive attitude the other day with this subject because I will admit it makes me very sad to know that I don’t have the money to buy my daughter a new outfit or two for school. I will, however, take on a few new virtual assistant projects just so I can have some money to buy her a few outfits because that is what parents do!
Do you have a back to school child? What are you doing for school shopping for them? Supplies or clothes or both?
