OMG I swear my children have no clue what the word be quite means or please whisper. When I finally get the youngest down to nap for the first time in WEEKS I am constantly reminding my older two children who are ages 7 and 4 that they need to use their whisper voices. Every time I turn around they are being loud and when I look even closer at the situation it is my daughter who is 7 egging her 4 year old brother on to be loud and angry.

I swear my daughter enjoys getting a rise out of my 4 year old son, it doesn’t take much but she still loves doing it. Then when he gets angry and aggressive she cries dramatically over the situation. Now call me a hard ass mother but seriously when someone was asking for it I am certainly not going to place them in a time out. What I do is simply speak to both of them and tell them to behave or else they both can sit on the couch and do nothing at all, not even talk.

I tend to be compassionate with my children, I give lots of hugs and kisses but I firmly believe that life is not fair and children need to realize this. I understand it’s not fair that just because we live in a small house and the youngest is sleeping that they must use their whisper voices, but if they would take their own relax time or play in the other bedroom then they could use a normal level voice. Instead my two older children decide it’s cool to throw a bouncy ball and yell and scream {all in fun} at each other right in the living room so close to where their 2 year old brother lays fast asleep for the first time in weeks!

So I wonder do they know what be quiet means? Of course they do, they are 4 and 7 after all, so why is it just when I get the little one down to sleep they feel the need to get louder than they were when he was awake? I swear I will never understand children but I do love them!

Do you have older children that don’t nap and a younger child that does? What do you do with the older children to help them be quiet yet still enjoy the play time together? Or are you just a lucky parent with a big house that it doesn’t matter if the kids are quiet or not?!
